Happy Cat Tie Dye Swatches

If you watch my YouTube channel you’ve probably seen me use quite a few of the Happy Cat Tie Dye colors when I ice dye. Happy Cat is a small business owned by Amanda and located in New Jersey. Amanda formulates beautiful color specifically for ice dyeing and for the color splits. She is a small business and so it can sometimes take close to a month to get your order, but I think it is worth it.

Like most who use Happy Cat Tie Dyes, I started with Strawberry Skies. I saw a couple items on facebook dyed with it, and I had to try it myself. It is absolutely gorgeous and has a lot of beautiful color splits. So far it is still my favorite dye color of hers. If you’d like to use a single color of dye on an item and still have a big impact - Strawberry Skies is a great choice.

I don’t own all of the Happy Cat Dye colors, but I have quite a few. I was a little too light-handed with some of my dye swatches, but I think you can get a good feel for the color and the splits from them. So far I haven’t been disappointed with a single color I’ve purchased.

All the color swatches below are ice dyed swatches. I added the dye over the top of the ice (DOI) for these swatches. I’ve included a photo of my dye swatch process below.

This is an example of my color swatch setup. I place the labeled and soda ash soaked color swatch inside of a ring made from a silicone cake mold. Then I add a couple cubes of ice, a sprinkle of dye and a dash of dry soda ash to the top. I allow them to process about 24 hours, and then rinse and wash like normal.
